what makes a good garden design?

Here's a video I made that talks about my landscape design approach.

You can see all my videos here.

Hey, that's great. I'd love to send this (anonymously) to friends whose yards I think don't work well. Their basic structure FIGHTS the way they use their yard. They're always asking for my suggestions on garden design issues and I have to politely tell 'em that no matter what pretty plants they have, their yard sucks because it's not designed around what they use their yard for.

JCharlier - I hope it helps!

What an informative video! I wish you could help me design my yard. I have a friend who helps out a little -- if only he were as talented as you!

Wonderful way to show the thought process of designing a landscape design. I like the view idea and axis. Since I'm working in landscape design (very new designer) I'll be back to view those videos and learn from you. Thanks!

Sarah, I'd love to help you out, but I wouldn't want to upset your friend...it might get messy.

Tina, I'm glad you found the video helpful. Good Luck with your designs!

Great video. I have a question - what program do you use for your designs?

Thanks Phillip, I used SketchUp which is available for free from Google. I find it very easy to use. You should try it!

Thanks. Right now I'm using one put out by Better Homes and Gardens. It is okay. I actually tried SketchUp a while back but I didn't really do that much with it.
